Naming Your LD

Hi folks! My husband and I have been going back and forth, trying to find 'the' name for our 1992 Red 23.5 LD TK. We think we've found it- we like "Daze of Wine and Rozes". Our question is- do we have to check anywhere and see if anyone is already using it? Does it need to be registered anywhere? Seeing how an LD becomes part of your family, we thought this was important! Thanks for your input!

We're going to a new RV resort up by Pyramid Lake, just to try full hookup and everything else. We'll let you know how it is.

Heavens, no--there's no hidebound bureaucracy that has to approve your rig's name. Go ahead and call it whatever you like! :-)

Andy's right - the names are just for fun. I believe there are lots of "Daisy's" or "Dazey's". I kinda like Dazed and Lazy but Ruby is already named and there is no going back!!!

You might want to consider doing what I did: print your logo on ultra-thin inkjet- printable magnet sheets and stick them to the cab doors. I used the Xerox brand, and it worked well. (I gave them a coat of Krylon clear fixative to ensure they were waterproof.)

Longevity is an open question: I haven't had these in place long enough to know whether they will fade. But the material costs very little compared to a professional sign-painting job, so even if you had to print new ones once a year, it'd still be a cheap way to go.
And of course, it's removable without leaving a trace. :-) You can even make matching ones for your toad!

Keep in mind that there may be only a 19 character field available
which includes letters and spaces. But you might check with Lazy Daze

first so you know how many characters you can have for sure.

I loved the question about protocol for naming our LDs! Rather like suggesting a need for a birth certificate!
When we full-timed in a fifth wheel, we had our names on it ("Gus and Judy's Casita") and had them made in the vinyl letters that were mentioned in an earlier posting. They worked wonderfully and we loved them. However, Bill Farlow, one of the RV world's respected "elders", said at a Life on Wheels conference that no one should have their personal names written on the outside of their vehicle (too late for us!). He said that it could facilitate bad people trying to get in to your vehicle by saying your name in a friendly voice and you opening the door.  We never had a bad experience, however. He did suggest putting some identifying number or name on the top as a way to find and identify your vehicle, if it were ever stolen.

If you get those vinyl letters and ever want to remove them, a hair dryer and finger nails does the trick...sloooowly. I know this from personal experience!
