January 10, 2005, 06:26:45 pm Yahoo Message Number: 49078We are scheduled to make a trip from Western NY to the Mothership this week flying in late Thursday night and visiting the area until Sunday. Does anyone have any information regarding effects of the rain (flooding, mudslides etc) in this area that we should be aware of?Thanks for the heads up,Greg and Karen, Finger Lakes Wannabees

For what is worth, the forcast is for improving conditions by this Thursday, that won't be hard. I haven't heard of any problems in the area. Good luck. Gene

So you may be doing some "slight" rocking and rolling during your visit. It is just part of experiencing California.John

It has been raining quite a bit here in Montclair. The weather man says we are breaking records with recorded rainfall. There's nothing to worry about though, every one is getting used driving in it after 2 weeks of the wet stuff. It's only the first rain after a long drought that every one forgets how to drive. As for mud slides, we are nowhere them, they're mostly in the high rent district, and that's not Montclair. When you are at the airport look north towards the mountains and right at the foothills is where the fires were, I haven't heard of any mud sliding there lately, I think the vegetation and man made precautions are taking care of that. As for earthquakes I haven't felt one in many moons, maybe I'm just used to them being a native, I sleep right through them. Now back in '94 that was an earthquake, I felt that one. Don't worry you will have a good visit to our little community, like mentioned previously the weather should be clearing up and then it will be beautiful with clear skies and none of our famous smog.Marilyn in soggy Montclair, Calif[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

We haven't been there for many years. Now, Karen tells me that we should take in the "Road to California Quilt Show" while we are in the area. Life sure takes interesting turns when you are traveling.Greg and Karen, Finger Lakes Wannabees
