New Year, new law in California

Since the topic of new laws came up, and it's been raining much more than usual here in California, I thought I'd pass this one on to residents and visitors alike. Now when it is raining enough to have your windshield wipers on, you must also have your headlights on. This isn't a problem at night, but in daylight hours, I haven't noticed any increased headlight usage in the last week or so. Maybe some more publicity? I've got DRL on my cars, (Day Time Running lights), so I would think this a moot requirement, especially if the timer is set at max on the intermittent wipers. I don't think the enforcement level is very high (yet), but you can bet the fine will be exorbitant. Sounds like one more law to ignore, or lawmakers trying to enforce common sense again! I'm glad they did this. We've noticed that unless a car is equipped with daytime running lights, most people never think to turn on their lights in bad weather. They seem to think that if they dion't need the lights to see the road, they must also be perfectly visible to other cars. Not so, especially if you have a gray or pale colored vehicle. I always turn on my lights during fog or wet weather, and wish everybody did.

Yesterday I was out in the rain with my lights on and passed a police car with lights not turned on, I guess this law isn't going to be enforced by that officer.

Maybe all vehicles should have 2 or 3  strobe lights also?
