Dashing through the snow, in a big ol'

Hi gang, instead of singing about dashing through the snow in a one horse open sleigh, how about:
"Dashing through the snow, in a big ol' Lazy Daze, o'er the roads we roam, smiling all the way"

Now, since singing isn't my stong suit, what I really wanted to do, was share a few winter driving tips with those of you venturing out into the snow with your LD this holiday season. I know a few of you brave souls were heading to the midwest for the holidays, and we really did get one of the worst winter storms ever!

If you are new to driving an RV in the snow; please allow plenty of stopping room, all that weight can take a while to stop; enough said.
Also, don't panic when an iceberg lands on your windshield. It seems, from my experience anyway, that snow and ice build up on the cab over area and then it can slide down and crash onto the windshield when you least expect it. When you stop for a break, check out the snow and ice build up on that area and see if you can loosen it with a long brush to avoid the big suprise while driving. One other suggestion, invest in some winter wiper blades. They don't ice up nearly as quickly as the standard blades. And clear the snow out of your tail lights.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a safe holiday season! Steve K.

Not that I'm going to be dashing, dancing, slogging or "venturing" through snow any time soon Steve, but only someone from OH HI OH woulda thunk to remove snow build up from tail lights!  Thanks for the tip -- very useful for the next time it snows on Easter Sunday in Arizona!
Merry Christmas to all and thanks to all the folks on this board for another lively, informative year. May the wind be at your back and your New Year be filled with optimism.

Lorna!

How unfair!  Here we are in paradise (San Felipe, Baja) and the temps are expected to crest at 68 degrees!!!  And you're in Santa Cruz with temps of 70???  Where is the justice?

Oh well, we still wouldn't change this place for anything--- Santa Anna winds (still blowing) not-with-standing.
Happy holidays to all, and safe travels for all those "on the road" -
