For any LD'ers in the Texas area in February, I can recommend the Choke Canyon Birding Festival February 4-6, 2005 Choke Canyon State Park, TX More details are available at http://www.threeriverstx.org/birding_classic.htm

We plan to be there.  We went to their 1st birding festival two years ago and enjoyed it.  We missed last year due to a conflict, but are looking forward to this one.  We're not really much of birders, but they have tour guides and lots of experienced birders to tell you what you are seeing.

Not only that, but if you camp at Choke Canyon the deer will come right into the campground where you are. And, if you drive the park roads, tossing "deer corn" out the window as you go the deer and Javalina (Peccary) will come out of the woods to eat it.

And, in addition to the "Red Bird" (Northern Cardinal) and Scissor- tailed Flycatcher (photos) try to see how close you can get to a Crested Caracara (Mexican Eagle).

I have family living in that area.
