Sadly, we're pulling out of Fredericksburg TX this morning - sadly, because there's sooooo much to see and do around here. So if you're in this part of Texas, don't miss it. Thanks again to John K, Barry & Martha for heading us this way. You were so right.

Beverly & Ross Taylor took us to a terrific local eatery where we absolutely pigged out - I even took two extra pieces of pecan pie with me for later. I'll guarantee I won't be finding anymore like this on the way home. Pretty nearly as good as my mom made.
We also got to see the Taylor's brand-new 26' MB - we loved their back up camera and the new TV that you all have in the 04's. Of course, it still smells new. Thanks Beverly and Ross! We'll see you again when we come back this way - I want to stay in this area for at LEAST 3-4 weeks.

Please do come back.  We enjoyed our evening out with you and Pete.
It's another beautiful day in the Texas hill country.

We will be coming through your hill country around the first of the year and were wondering if you could give us a few suggestions of things of interest to do there.  We will (hopefully) have our ailing dog along, so we are limited to somewhat sedate activities.  If you have some ideas, you can send a direct e-mail to us at .  Thanks.

Sarah,

Steve and I wholeheartedly agree with you.  Fredericksburg is our favorite TX place to visit (and we live just 1 1/2 hours away)!  We have it on our short-list for places to retire if we could just find a nice house with room for a garage to be built for our motorhome.
Our favorite places?  Der Kuchen Laden, Dogologie, Rustlin' Robs, Rather Sweet, and Lincoln Street Cafe/Wine Bar.  Of course, there's also Wildseed Farms (which is gorgeous

I'm not familiar with the other places, but the Nimitz Museum is a unique place -- http://www.nimitz-museum.org/index.htm -- and well worth a visit.  My time there a few years ago happened to coincide with visit by a large group of VFW members, most of whom apparently had served in the Pacific. Moving slowly through the three floors of exhibits, I heard a lot of war stories, and saw more than a few salutes and late-70-something tear-stained noses pressed against display case glass.  It was at once heart-breaking and uplifting.

Don't miss the Nimitz if you're in the "Hill Country", and definitely pick up a bag of "sugared and spiced" pecans from one of the street vendors!
