One of the most useful tools for camping is a PVC pipe cutter. It is a small palm sized tool which looks like a set of garden clippers, but which is highly leveraged and ratcheting to easily cut pipe (You can use as many squeezes as you need to make the cut and the blades stay where they are while you open the handles for another squeeze). It is perfect for cutting tree branches up to maybe 2 inches. For larger branches I carry a miniature large tooth saw.

You will learn that to avoid scratches on you rig, in many sites you have to remove branches yourself (branches grow rapidly). For those which I think may scratch the roof, I pull up close enough to climb the rig and reach it from the roof. Most often there is more than one. When you cut, leave enough clearance so that the worst wind will not cause the now-clipped branch from still hitting your rig.

The cutter is cheap, small, and does not require a strong grip to do the job.
