Anybody have experience with a product called 'Sewer Solution' that supposedly takes the messiness and drudgery out of draining the black water tank? They claim the 3" 'stinky slinky' can be eliminated provided you have a water source to work with their product. I am a newbie so I can't compare the their product with what they describe as a very messy traditional dump process.

They are located at www.sewersolution.com if you need more info to comment on this.

Sorry for the messy topic...

In my humble opinion, sewer solution is a great tool if you have to dump to a receptacle which is a distance from the rig, such as emptying your tanks at home. For common campground dumping, it is no cleaner than the standard 3 inch hose and takes longer to dump. If you want the automatic hose rinsing feature, get a clear elbow with a hose fitting (with backflow preventer) attached. This not only is cheaper and rinses the hose, it is useful for cleaning the bottom of the tank, which almost always has a residue after dumping, even after refilling the tank as Lazy Daze suggests. Good luck

Steve:

For normal black tank dumping, at any dump station, there is no need for a sewer solution and even some drawbacks - it is slower than normal and you have to carry the thing. It is needed, however, if you wish to dump at home and if your receptacle (house sewer cleanout fitting, toilet, etc) is within the pumping range. Sewer solution is nothing more than a water powered macerator pump. I wanted one because we like to go off for a few days boondocking and hate to stop and pay a campground on the way home to dump. But our septic tank cleanout fitting and our toilets are too far from our driveway for the sewer solution to work, and our water pressure is lower than the average bear. We therefore had to acquire an eectric macerator pump which would handle the elevation and distance to the fitting. The poop-out-pump handled this nicely, at about twice the cost of the sewer solution.
But it was our peculiar circumstances which required it - for 28 or so years we never needed one - we just dumped at campgrounds.

As to the sewer solution promise of cleaner dumps (no spillage, etc), we found that the Prest-O-Fit hose and fittings solved that problem easily. Once we got that, dumping was so clean that for the first time I stopped using rubber gloves.

Hope this helps.

Gus - Please tell us newbies what Prest-O-Fit is, how to use it, how much it costs, what it replaces, and where to get it (Camping World I expect).
Sounds like something worth having for that fun time at the dump! Dumping, leveling, balancing, checking tire pressure on the inside back tires - aaarg! -lovemyld-

I AM GRATEFUL FOR YOUR INPUT.

So, tell me, please, what are prest-o fittings? Here's something else I have to research.

Thanks again,

Steve

I didn't get a Prest-O-Fit when I started out on my first trip in my shiney new 26 1/2 MB -- I should have. The brand new sewer hose decided to spring back out of the sewer conncetion while dumbing my black water tank one lovely afternoon! Luckily I have good reflexes or it would have been REALLY ugly. As it was, it was ugly enough!

Also, even if a site is called a Pull-through, don't assume there are no hazzards! Always look up and make sure there are no tree limbs or other obstructions in the way. I didn't and my new baby got a scratch.

The first of many newbie mistakes -- I hope Vinny Valentino (my LD) forgives me for my ignorance.

Maryilyn,
I think that those "Tennessee Pin Stripes" on your coach are classy.  It shows that you are willing to take it to out-of-the-way places.

Cool
