Black Streaks March 29, 2001, 02:12:23 pm Yahoo Message Number: 2956I just finished cleaning this winters collection of black streaks off the LD. What is this stuff? I see it on vehicles made of steel, aluminum and fiberglass. Is it something that get rained down? Next question is how to prevent it . Waxing before the rainy season only slighty helps.

I've all but eliminated them by sticking on the "EZE-RV Gutter System" available from Camping World (page 75 in 2000 catalog). It comes in a 50 ft. roll and sticks on real easily just below the roof cap along the sides. You just have the end where all the stuff drains off to contend with. This has sure saved a lot of time and cleaners.

You get far less on your Lazy Daze than rubber roof rigs, where rubber deterioration products cause a lot more of them. I always wash the roof when washing the rig and this seems to keep them away.Happy TrailsGus Weber
Black Streaks Reply #3 – March 29, 2001, 08:02:44 pm Yahoo Message Number: 2962The addition of gutters is a good idea if you have black treak problems.On the streaks at the gutter ends, I have seen some coaches (at rest of course) with wooden clothes pins at the ends of the gutters to get the drippings out at the ends of the clothes pins and not building up black streaks down the paint.Don McG
