Vinyl Windshield Cover

We used a Vinyl Cab window cover for three years in all seasons on our last Class C and based on that experience, we have one for our new LD.

We found the main effect of the cover was privacy and reduction of summer glare and radiant heating. As has been mentioned, the cover allows the inside privacy curtain to remain open until bed time, adding to the interior useable space. The white cover reflects a lot of the radiant "sun heat", expecially noticeable at the cab side windows.

We did not notice much difference in winter heat loss when using our cover. There were several times when a cold rain made it easy to not put on the cover and we did not notice much difference. What did make a difference in cold weather was forgetting to turn off the heater control when shutting down the engine, as lots of cold air would then come in through the dashboard vents.
Also, using the technique recommended by Lazy Daze of blocking off the cab area with a heavy blanket is really effective insulation in cold weather.

Our vinyl cab glass cover does not have clips to retain it - It is the one sold by Camping World. It uses magnets captured inside a vinyl seam to keep the cover against the cab doors at the aft edge of the lower side windows - and a vinyl strap to keep the cover on the doors at the aft upper edge of the cab doors. So far, the winds we have experienced have not taken it off.

All in all, the Vinyl boot is a worthwhile extra to have.

May someone with a sharp knife not admire your vinyl boot more than you do.....
