I just got back from my first trip in my new LD --CA to TX and back. The LD was wonderful, but there were some difficult conditions (rain, high winds and BIG trucks) that resulted in extended periods of white knuckle driving. I've heard that installing a Steer Safe Stabilizer helps make the driving easier. I would appreciate your real life experiences and opinions. (I do have the Bilstein shocks.)

Hello Marilyn, My experience with Steer Safe is that it definitely reduced the "steering" effect of passing trucks on our previous coach, a 24' Born Free. I'd say that about 90% of it was removed by installation of Steer Safe. Had it put in by Camping World. If you have a Steer Safe installed, I suggest you specifically check to make sure there is clearance between the Steer Safe and the adjacent tie rod end when the steering wheel is turned full left and then full right.
The Steer Safe should NOT touch the tie rod end in either position!

Our new 25.5' Lazy Daze (with Bilsteins) has very little "steering" effect from passing trucks. I have not as yet had it in strong cross winds. I do plan to install Steer Safe for the increased safety in case of an explosive tire failure. You might look at message # 1897 on this bulletin board, also.

May our Firestones always have road contact, Don McG

Don -- Thanks for your opinion and caution about the installation. I'll check out the other message as well.  It was the cross winds, more than the trucks, that caused problems.
