Since we're new to RV'ing, I am posting this so other newbies may save time getting quotes for RV insurance. In anticipation of taking delivery at the end of April, I contacted the following financing companies for quotes:

Good Sam 1-800-847-2886 RV Alliance America
1-800-521-2942  Foremost RV Insurance 1-800-262-0170  Camping World RV  Insurance 1-800-727-7300  Progressive
1-888-539-7415

I also contacted GEICO and learned that they don't offer RV coverage unless at least one other vehicle is also included, and their RV coverage was not competitive (in both coverage and price) with the companies mentioned above.

Another option, but not available to us since we don't qualify, is USAA, which offers RV insurance for current/recent military personnel.

We got the lowest quote for our new LD from Good Sam, so we're going to go with them.

Their quote, based on 2001 26.5 MB LD valued at $66K was $624/year with the following coverages (we wanted more than just the minimum coverages):

250/500K for bodily injury 250/500K for uninsured motorist bodily injury 100K property damage 5K medical payments to others $250 Comprehensive deductible $500 Collision deduct. with waiver Towing/Roadside Assistance (no limit) $2K personal effects Total loss replacement coverage

Anyone had any good/bad experiences with Good Sam insurance?

We got the same quote from Good Sam and they were the lowest we received for like coverage. It is good to see confirmation that we did things right since we are real newbees. We pick up our 26,5RK in September after ordering Feb. 7th.

"Foremost RV Insurance

This has been our carrier for the past 7 years, and I was pleased the only time we used them. Response was fast, and the coverage was complete.

However, I also do not feel the situation was particularly demanding. We broke down in a major metropolitan area about 20 miles from home when the alternator froze. Most of the policy's provisions were not tested.

Since, I have covered every problem with my own ingenuity, in the interest of minimizing downtime and maximizing vacation. Were a serious situation to arise, I can't comment on how well this company would respond compared to others.

Greetings!

We've had Camping World and a host of other insurance companies. We are presently with Good Sam, AKA GMAC - they provided the best cost for the same coverage. As far as claims, we've never had one and HOPEFULLY, NEVER WILL!!!!! One thing really special about the Good Sam, is if one pays the entire premium for 6 months at one time, they offer a 10% discount. I must have missed that little tidbit in the small print, but the agent on the phone told me that. Good luck. Insurance is a royal pain but one cannot do without it.
