This is an incredibly informative site. Glad I "Googled" onto it. Am considering ordering a LD 30'IB.
Would appreciate insights [pro AND con] on the quality of the IB mattresses, whether upgrades are available or necessary. Also, comparison of the sleep quality of the IB vs. sofas that convert into K or Q beds[the over-cab platforms are out for us - our climbing days are pretty much over]. I've gone through about half of the messages, but haven't seen this topic discussed. Thanks, Geo

Geo, We have a 2001 26.5' Island bed & I can tell you, the bed is firm & sleeps much better than any sofa bed or couch that we have ever slept on. I can't tell you about the Lazy Daze couch, we decided our climbing days were over also, thus the reason for ordering the Island Bed. We chose the 26.5' model because it does have a cab-over bed, in case someone else (younger) would care to go with us. We wanted the space mostly for storage of extra blankets, pillows, etc. And the extra weight carrying capacity of the 26.5' vs the 30'... Frank...

My wife and I (60 ish) LOVE those pull out beds in the back of our 23 1/2 RK. Those cushions are layered with different densities. I have back troubles, no increase in back problems sleeping on the couch on the right side (passenger side). It's a little longer and my 5'11" frame fits in there with room to stretch out.
