Hi Nancy,

I assume you are looking to use less of your power budget on lighting. You probably already know this, but just to review for the audience: common electrical white lighting goes from least to most efficient like this: low-temperature incandescent, high-temperature incandescent (like halogen), fluorescent, then light-emitting diodes (leds). Not coincidently, that is also the order of increasing reliability and initial cost.

For rv's, white leds are ideal because they use ridiculously little power, are generally closer to full spectrum than other 12v lighting, are completely immune to vibration, and last more or less forever. However, they are not as bright as other sources, and they are still extremely expensive (although the price is slowly dropping). Depending on the amount of light you need, you might even be able to simply pop some led bulbs into your your existing bayonet sockets. Anyway, have a look at these links, too:

Nancy, I have not - but which fixture in which year are you referring to? Flourescent fixtures are not available in compact spot lighting, which makes them inefficient for the purpose of illuminating a restricted area evenly for the purpose of reading. They are very efficient for general room lighting, but you may not like the color.

Our '83 has fixtures under the cabinets in the lounge that hold two bullet lamps and a rectangular lamp with two bulbs. Is this what you have?
