I contacted DirecPC about their future in broadband wireless access to the Internet for people who change location often in a motorhome. Here is their response to me:

Hello Kent,

Thank you for contacting DirecPC Technical Support with your question regarding a satellite system that can be used with a directv receiver and can be mobile

I believe your answer may be the DirecPC Satellite Return hardware which is under a very limited release and is only available in limited supply in a few locations. Over the next few months hardware production will be ramped up and our distribution network will be filled. National availability is planned for the first quarter of 2001. Hardware pricing and service plans will be announced with the national release information. The DirecPc website will be updated with product release information as it becomes available.

Thank you for your patience, and for being a valued customer of DirecPC.
If I can be of further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

If you have any further questions you can email us back, call

or visit our website at www.direcpc.com. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Thank you for your patronage and continued support.

Sincerely, Raymond DirecPC Technical Support

I replied to this message with questions about which ISPs might be choices and what the ballpark service and installation costs might be.

Sounds like it'll require a second dish for the PC. Have they mentioned plans to incorporate PC and TV in one receiver?

DishPC/DishTV has a dual antenna that looks sort of like two 18-inch dishes set side-by-side and squeezed together. The TV and PC satellites are a few degrees apart in azimuth, so the tow feeds in the ovalish dish are kinda wall-eyed.
