Recall on Ford Chasis

We don't know the particular model or specifics, only that our neighbor received something about a recall on 99 &/or 2000 Fords that have a problem with ball joints (which are on the front). If you have such a unit, might warrant a call to your local Ford dealer.

Vehicle Description: Motor home chassis and heavy duty trucks. The affected vehicles have tie rod ends and/or drag link assembly ends that could have insufficient harness in the ball stud.

This could result in premature wear and, potentially, separation of the ball stud from its socket.

Dealers will replace the tie rod ends and/or drag link assemblies. Owner notification is expected to begin during December 2000.Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Ford at 1-800-392-3673. Also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Auto Safety Hotline at 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).
