If so, when and how much did it cost you?We didn't buy Gertie new, but the first owner told us that he paid around $28,000. in 1985 for her. He sold her to us in 1991 for $13,000., but it eventually required another $5,000. in repairs to get her smog legal in California, and some other issues which I have forgotten the details of now. Oh, there was the problem with his tire blowout, wherein it whapped a good-sized hole in the cabinet under the refrigerator. Gary fixed it with thick, marine quality plywood, and then insulated and padded the compartment for carrying our computers.Over our tenure of ownership, for a little more than that same amount, we added a full solar system (4 panels and four gel cell batteries), new tires, new carbeurator, a catalytic heater, a new Dometic refrigerator, and did some other things that have slipped through my brain cells. When Andy bought her, he immediately added an air conditioner (removing the swamp cooler that worked fine in Arizona; not so fine in the much higher humidity of New Jersey!) and changed out the totally useless brand-new Dometic refrigerator for a new Norcold refrigerator. It is easy to see from his web site that Gertie has had the good fortune to live with people who love(d) her dearly! ;->We now fulltime in a 40-foot diesel pusher, and have a Sportsmobile camper van for our toad, but I am still reading the Lazy Daze list! Once a LD owner, always a LD owner, I guess. We dream of the day that we will have another one. When we decide to settle down in a house again, I'm sure there will be a trip to Montclair about eight months before that happens!Virtual hugs,Judie within a month! SKP #17907 NKK #12906 R-CHAR 00165

It also lists standard features. One of those is the reinforcement necessary to mount the ladder and rack on 22/23' models. I know the subject of adding a ladder to units that didn't have one has come up. Knowing it has the structure to accommodate it is good to know.-Victor

Reply #9 – July 18, 2003, 10:22:01 am Yahoo Message Number: 24666Thanks Victor for the 91 data.Someone just posted an ads for a 91 26.5 LD at $27,500. That's 63% of the original price of $44,000. Can you guys think of vehicle that holds 63% of its value after 12 years? Amazing!Have a good weekend, Sam
