Linoleum replacement and other central TX LD fun

Well, our kitchen floor replacement is almost complete!  Thanks to the advice of this group, I nixed the cheap vinyl remnant we'd bought at Home Depot in favor of a piece of Armstrong Solarian Supreme I found at a local flooring place.  The owner waited on me as everyone else was out to lunch, and he turned out to be a motorhome enthusiast as well, having just replaced the flooring in his class C (not a LD) with hardwood (must be nice to own the flooring store!).

The easy part was taking out the old flooring in our '99 30IB - the adhesive had failed so what was there was barely tacky (either that, or spray contact adhesive is used and was only applied to one of the surfaces by mistake).  I just picked each tile up and laid it on some flooring pattern paper in order, using a 4" straight-edge and a large framing square to get everything lined up.  Where the old flooring met cabinetry, there was a bead of brown silicone caulk that I had to cut (after I accidentally pulled a small area about 1/4" of the cabinet "wud" skin up).  Even with the pattern from the old flooring, it took 3-4 trims on each side, usually removing 1/32", to get the new flooring to lay flat and not contact any vertical surfaces (key, according to the flooring guy).  We're not done yet - later this week we have to staple under the carpet nap where it meets carpet and use adhesive by the cabinets and then run a new bead of caulk (almond this time).  REALLY brightened up the place and the smaller pattern we chose made the kitchen area seem larger.  It took 5 1/2 hours working slowly, measuring several times, with hydration breaks to combat the heat.  Maybe 1/2 hour left to complete the job.
After that I put a foam-type no-skid shelf liner in all the cabinets and drawers, put the pots in new "Pot Pockets" quilted bags we found at Camping World - very nice and neat for quieting any rattling, and found a neat chrome vertical rack at Lowe's to make the under-oven storage neater.

So that was my fun for the weekend.  Steve put MaxxAir covers on 3 roof vents, a TurboMaxx replaced the standard vent fan that's between the shower and bathroom, and a FanMate went over the Fantastic Fan (I feel like a rolling MaxxAir ad......, maybe we'll pull those stickers off)

After that is was replacing the water heater drain plug with an anode rod, replacing the 6300 series converter guts with the Parallax 7345 (NICE unit!), replacing the control module on our Kwikee electric step (the "last out" mode where the step stays extended stopped working last fall), and replacing our Shurflo WhisperKing with the new Shurflo SmartSensor 5.7 water pump.  That's almost done - we needed to get longer tubing to connect to the water tank and then it's ready to fill, prime, and test.

Oh, and he replaced the kitchen faucet with a nice single-handle chrome Delta pull-out one and the bathroom faucet with a single- handle chrome American Standard one.

I hope to have the before and after photos to post on the LD Improvements site next weekend.

Michelle

When you have some experience with the new water pump, please post your impressions of it and how it compares with the Whisper King.
I'm not real satisfied with the flow of the Whisper King in our 2003 FL.

Michelle,

I would love to hear details about how all the MaxxAir products mounted to the roof. I have been wanting to add those to our rig, but my husband keeps saying he doesn't want any holes in the roof from the install...

Hi Linda,
I previously posted a few pix of installing a MaxxAir cover over the mid-cabin Fan-Tastic Fan in my 22' FL in the Lazy Daze Enhancements site ,

titled "Knife Safe & MaxxAir Cover".

As Michelle said, no holes in the roof.  Being someone who is particlarly careful when it comes to drilling holes in anything, this was a fairly low stress operation ... :))

PS:  I seem to remember reading somewhere if a web site URL is preceded by a "", it would post whole.  We'll see ... :)

We finished up the installation and tested the new SureFlow SmartSensor pump today.  First, we needed to get some extra barb fittings and hose clamps as well as some extra tubing to install the in-line filter that was screwed directly into the Whisper King.  The SmartSensor pump is larger and we couldn't fit the whole pump back

UGH - I hate typos!  That should be "the TOILET probably saw a two- fold increase....."
