RV Clubs, Discount Clubs, Good Sam, Etc.

Hi,
As a retired couple who are seven or eight months away from delivery of a LD 26.5 RK TS, we would appreciate any comments regarding the usefulness of any RV Clubs, etc.  We recognize the need for emergency road service (Good Sam?) and would hope to utilize the internet while traveling.

In Lake City, CO, for example, the most beautiful, clean, full service RV Park in the area (The Highlander RV Park)is on a list for a club that offers 50% off posted price for up to two weeks.  At 8800 feet, surrounded by towering mountain peaks, this RV Park charges around $25 for full hookup.  Half or $13 is some bargain!
Anyway, we would appreciate any advice you may give us that identify super places to stay (including BLM, State Parks, etc.)

Thanks

Bill/Marilynn

Best bet for relevant advice is to give a bit more detail on what you expect from RVing - we are a motley lot. If full-service RV parks are your cup of tea, dry camping in the wilderness may not be so. Also you may be planning to put down 'roots' in one spot for awhile. One nice park certainly does not an RVing lifestyle make. There are thousands of nice ones out there, and of course countless remote sites to park and call home for a day or a week or ...
This of course all boils down to what you expect from your RV clubs, insurance, etc, and there is a wealth of experience here.

Just stop by a rangers' station in any state you are traveling in and ask for maps and information on USFS, BLM, Core of Engineers, or other facilities available for camping in that state or area.  They are very cooperative as a rule.  If either of you are at least 62 years old, pay the $10 for a Golden Age Passport... saves you 50% on federally controlled camping areas.
