A note to our group members on tolerance
Yahoo Message Number: 23287
On June 5th, Steve K. posted a gripe to the message board that has exploded into an ugly splotch. His post honestly attempted to be polite and non-personal, but it was flawed. He addressed it to the board and the moderators, typified the behavor as that of a newbie, then singled out a post exemplifying his objection. Unfortunately, the one he singled out was not some disembodied piece of text, it was a real message by a real person. This MAKES it personal.

This group has over 1000 members, each unique and flawed in some ways. If your posts have never annoyed anyone, you probably aren't contributing enough. I am sure some find Mike R.'s posts rather windy, and I would be amazed if others were not a tad annoyed at the repeated multimeter posts I made in my excitement. It is all shy of perfection. It is a group of human beings. Do NOT expect not to be annoyed. But, you have the right to expect not to be hurt. If anyone was hurt by anything posted here, I apologize on behalf of this group - I am sure it is not intentional.
Now a note about moderator duties. Yahoo can at will cancel any group it feels violates its policies, or for any other reason as it pleases. Our first responsibility is to uphold this policy, for the proection of the group. Our second is to uphold the conditions for posting to this group set up by the original founders, and this I try to do. I think the success of this group shows we have done this by and large to the members' satisfaction. Third is maintenance, such as removing duplicate posts and performing routine tasks at a personal level requested by members who do not have access to the feature in question. This is about it. I do not see it among my tasks to meddle with what appears to be working fine, and that would include changing the group intro in the ways that some have suggested. If I perceive a consistent problem developing that could seriously affect group function, I will consider whether it is warranted. I DO appreciate it being pointed out to me, but please - do not personalize it.

Steve, a heartfelt thank you.  That reminder was needed.
