We have a 1994 22' Multi-Plan. The window shade over the rear couch has broken. The shade will not stay rolled up. It rolls down and will not go back up.
There is no window shade repair place near us that will fix roller shades. They all suggested replacement with a new roller shade. Has anyone had this problem before? If so, what did you do? What about replacement with a pleated shade?

I would call Steve or Ed at LD and tell them about your shade problem. We have a 2000 RK and soon after taking posession of our motorhome the pull-down shade broke. When we got home to N.J. Steve sent out a new one and my husband installed it himself, no problem.

Yes, it happens a lot with the little shade on the door when I pull it down too far. I don't know if this will work for you, but give it a try before you trash your shade.

With the shade down, reach up to the rod and roll it away from you - you will feel the tension getting tighter again. See if this works for you. Sarah

I understand your plight, because in our '83, some of the shades are getting ratty in places - though the mechanisms still work. I would PREFER exact replacements, but Lazy Daze no longer makes that type available, and I have found no other high-quality source yet.

What Lazy Daze WILL supply is the pleated versions as used in the newer models, which are presumably fitted to work in your windows. I feel their prices are much lower than I expected, but haven't yet decided to get them.

In your case, I assume you have tried rewinding the spring and found it was no longer attached inside. I would try to repair the mechanism, perhaps by substituting a roller from another shade where you have swapped the material. They seem to be a standard design in that respect.
