Safety issues

While at the factory, I made three suggestions.  One was to offer the electronic entry key fob for the cab.  The second was to offer the option of having an anti-theft system installed.  The last was offering the option of having a permanent safe installed for valuables and to protect important papers from fire.
Considering, that those options are not now nor have they been in the past, what has everyone done regarding the last two.  I have had the electronic entry key fob and engine kill switch installed.  I still want to have an anti-theft system installed for the coach.  Considering, I travel with a dog or dogs, the system cannot be a motion detection type.
The ideal system would have a temp sensor as well in case the electric failed and the dogs were inside with no air conditioning.  Any ideas? As for the safe issue, any comments would be appreciated, though I understand not wanting others (even though they are special LD individuals) to know where or if a person has one.

Kathi, Tell us what kind of anti-theft system did you have installed? I like something similar...

I had a decent one (not from the factory) for a while and came to the following conclusions: It's difficult to conceal, easy to rip out no matter how it's installed, and won't protect contents from the extremely hot fire an rv is likely to have.  I finally removed it to reclaim the cargo weight and space.  My suggestions?  Don't make it obvious that it's your home (as opposed to a vacation-mobile), be sure your insurance covers personal possessions lost by theft or fire, and keep only copies of important papers in the rv, not originals.  If you have to carry some originals, then make notarized copies for safekeeping somewhere else.

The information is inside the MH (which is at the Ford place).  I will post the info when I get BABY back.  If I forget, just remind me.
Should have her back by middle of next week.
I decided to ask about the key fob when I had the accident because the door had to be replaced anyway.  The body shop at the Ford dealership referred me to a local business that did the installation.  The key fob cost $99 and the cut off switch $65.  Figured that it was a good value for my money.  The business that did the installation, only had motion detectors for the anti-theft / alarm system that obviously would not work with dogs and from what he said, could be set off by windy conditions.  So I passed on that idea.  But I do hope to have some type of alarm system installed, just have to find the right one for a motorhome with dogs.

disable switch to be accurate.
Thanks Kathi, I also found this link:http://www.powerlock.com/consumerfront.asp It disables your engine via a starter cut-off, thieves won't be able to drive off my brand spankin' new LD. It will not deplete your battery too.

I checked that link, and the Powerlock certainly looks impressive.
In the info about their various installations, they say nothing about ever having put one on an RV. Do you know if its been done? And does it still leave the coach doors vulnerable?

According to the link, the Powerlock is just a starter disable circuit, convenient but unlikely more secure than a well-thought out alarm installation. Most alarms provide this option, and almost any can be modified for it with the addition of a relay.

As an example, I am soon installing an alarm on one of our vehicles that includes the starter disable relay and keyless entry (extra relays may be needed) for $49. It's the installation that makes the difference whether the alarm is successful.
