Interior colors

Our 26.5 RB (silver/gray)is due mid-June, and my wife and I are still in "discussions" about the interior color. We've ordered the "brown" fabric which, if I recollect from our factory trip and photos posted here has some gray-ish shade in it. We've also ordered leatherette front seats, which are also gray. The valance color is where we part ways. Our order currently states "dark brown." But to liven the interior up just a little, I'm leaning towards changing it to "plum" (at the risk of annoying Steve.)

Long intro, but now my question: Are the valances the only item in the newer coaches that have the requested color? Or, are there other trim items that would also be either dark brown or plum colored? (Darn, I hate being 1000 miles from the factory!!)

Thx in advance.

Hi Lee,

When you ordered your RB, there were four fabric options that you were asked to choose from: carpet fabric, seat fabric, valance color, and valance trim color.  The valance trim, which is an accent to the primary valance color, is where you have a choice of two colors - in your case, dark brown or plum.

In looking through my pictures of the various LD models (which I would be happy to send to you if you want), I think that the valance trim is only used on the valances and above the door.  There are some other cushions on the tops of the dinette seats and on the side of cabinets to protect your head, but I think these are manufactured with the valance color, not the valance trim color.

For my MB on order, I chose tan carpet, Teal-brown print cushions (this pattern has brown, teal and plum tones in it), tan valance and plum valance trim.  Actually, it was my mother the artist who chose the colors :)

Hope this helps,

Mike

Lee, if you call them, I'm sure LD will send you physical samples of carpet, trim and upholstery fabrics.  I got them when I visited last Fall and take them with me whenever I go shopping.

The "other cushions" are vinyl and are the same color as the wood cabinets.
In my LD, (I think this is standard the valance color is also on the backs of all the chairs (cab and tubs). I would guess this would not be true if you have ordered leathette cab seats but I am not sure.
If you have two sofas, there is no valance fabric on the sofa and none on the dinette. The valance trim is only on the valances. This includes the valance over the door which is two tone like the window valances. The front curtain tie backs are main valance color with seat fabric trim.

Hope this helps.

Mike, lmbaird, & Lorna --

Thx for your responses. I appreciate the clarification re: valance color vs valance "trim", and that the trim color is only there and not scattered throughout the coach. That will probably make my "plum" sales job to Mary easier.

Mike, if you have photos that show valance/valance trim, I'd appreciate seeing them. Send them to:

Lorna, thx for the suggestion re: getting fabric samples. It's frustrating for us -- when we were at the factory last June, Ed showed us the fabric display board, and we selected a dark blue valance trim color. Would've have been a really nice accent.
Unfortunately, two months later when we placed our order, they no longer offer that shade of blue. They sent us a sample of the blue they did have, and we didn't care for it w/brown fabric. Soooo, not realizing that plum was even an option, we selected dark brown.

Thx again, folks. I'm going to put my asbestos suit on and write a note to Steve regarding changing the trim color.

Lee, first Steve will try to make you feel guilty for bothering such a busy man.  Ignore him.  That's his job!  Second, depending on where you are in the queue, it's a good possibility a change can be made without any hassel at all.

Someone here posted that the three choices were:  teal, brown and blue.  In reality, the "teal" is a light brown (tan) pattern with teeny-tiny hints of greenish splotches.  A green carpet might bring out the green color in that fabric, but I sure wouldn't call it "teal."  (I hear "teal," I think "peacock" ...just a personal interpretation!)

I'm expecting delivery (now it looks like) the end of May and have made 3-4 changes so far.  One was just 2 weeks ago to change the cab seats to the solid color vinyl because I thought there would be just too too much of that blue fabric pattern everywhere.

I've also noticed here that some folks have been talking with Tim rather than Steve.  Personally, I've found Tim and Todd to be much more amenable to changes. Best of luck to you.

Lee,

The photos that I have of the 2003 fabrics are posted in the last three photos in the folder "2003 interior colors" on this site.

If you go with plum valance trim, I would strongly suggest that you consider the "teal brown print" seat fabric as it has hints of plum in it that will match very well with the plum valance trim.

LD will send you a swatch of it if you ask them.

good luck,

Mike
