Door Step Lubricant

I have a manual door step, which has a sticker on it that says "lubricate once per month.  See owners' manual"  The owners manual doesn't have any info on what type of lubricant to use.  I can  call or email the mother store on Monday, but hopefully someone in the group knows and I can save some time. Thanks

Considering the mud and muck we enjoy plowing through, I simply hose it off and follow with silicone lube when dry.

The LD manual doesn't list the lubricant or any maintenance or precautions & reminders under the manual step heading in my 24th edition manual but under the next heading regarding the electric step they do. They suggest medium weight motor oil or better yet lithium grease and also add (not WD-40). I take this as meaning to periodically use that for the lubricant on either. I didn't get a Kwikee manual for the manual step but I would bet that the Kwikee manual for it would say to use Kwik Lube that Kwikee makes or those items and probably also mention not to use WD-40. WD-40 is a great product for many things but not for all things. I also think the step reminder sticker is referring to the Kwikee manual and not the LD manual.
