Been a student of this site and enjoy the comments and started a file on 'suggestions'... I am curious on a few items. Who has one of the older venerable Lazy Daze who is an original owner? Longevity so to speak.After all of these years, do owners of all older Lazy Daze have a minimal amount of noise, creaks, squeals, etc. compared to other makes?Has the older Lazy Daze held up and still look 'sharp'?Thank you in advance!flyhighdriveslow

Paint was a constant pain, but maintainable. As to the question of "creaks, squeals, etc" not even the dishes rattle in a LD. But it is all a matter of maintenance, eh? If it's been well maintained, you could spend 12-15K on a newer other brand and not get what your well maintained elderly Lazy Daze will give you at a much lower price for that age coach. But, even if it's in drive-away-condition, keep something in the kitty for repairs will show up. Em

Happy RVing . A heads up on LD curtains, I was about the throw out the originals that came with our '84, but thot that I'd first run them thru the wash on a cold cycle and surprise! They came out looking brand new! I happened to like the natural linen color and so was very happy to just take them out and rehang them. Em

Believing isn't good enough--you need concrete evidence. Please don't sign anything until you've gone to our Files section (see text links at left on any page of this group's website), opened the "Frequently Asked Questions" folder, and read the document "How do I shop for a used LD?" It has very important tips, including a pre-purchase inspection checklist."Are there any price range suggestions?" The Files document "Asking Prices for Used LDs.txt" will give you an idea what the rig is worth. Important: with any RV that's almost a quarter century old--even a Lazy Daze!--there will be problems. You need to have a mechanic inspect the rig, of course, in addition to your own inspection (which should concentrate on looking for evidence of leaks and dry rot). But in addition, you should set aside two to three thousand dollars for any repairs that may pop up in the first year of ownership, as they almost certainly will. Finally, assuming you buy the rig, you may want to spend some time in the "Travels with Gertie" section of my own website (http://www.andybaird.com/travels/>). There you'll find a wealth of information and tips based on my five years with a 1985 Lazy Daze. Good luck! I had taken them in to be dry cleaned, but the cleaner refused to deal with them as they were so old and had that foam lining. So I figured that since they were too dirty to reuse, it couldn't hurt to try washing them...and they came out perfectly! I carefully folded them together along the crease lines to make thick "strips), tied them, and left them that way for a few days, then rehung with the original plastic goodies. They looked brand new, even unto the sharp creases.Sonsie
