Hello LazyDazers! We made our first visit to Montclair and the factory last Monday.  We have read the various LD postings (that's what made us realize that an LD was in our future.

The factory did not have the 26.5 rear kitchen model when we visited.  We did see one in construction, and I just wish I had been able to see a finished product.  However, my husband (a rather generously proportioned gentleman) liked the rear bath, so that's what we will get.  I do worry about the shower area in that model, though.  We plan to be full-timers so expect to use the shower on a regular basis.  Any comments or thoughts on this small shower working out?  (The rear kitchen model had a larger shower area.)
 Another set of questions I have entails - what to plan on putting in the LD.  We will rent out our present home (cottage) and store our stuff.  Our question, since we've never done this, is - what do we plan to take .... what kind of dishes (Correl is light) - pots and pans - clothes, etc.  Are there "toasters" for motor homes?  How does one make toast in the morning, or does one not have toast?  We will each have our respective lap tops and a printer.  But I don't have a clue regarding anything else.  I hoped to run across something in the many posts, (even other rv discussion groups) but so far have not come up with anything.  One of the very kind LD owners we met last Monday use their LD for camping and the various gatherings you all have several times a year.  She uses paper plates.  How much do the plates, glasses, etc. move around in transit? Oh my!  I have so much to learn! Any directions to books, magazines, etc. or your own postings will be much appreciated!

If you are like us (and others we've talked to!) you'll start with too much stuff in the rig and be thinning things out as the first year goes by, and you learn RVing.  We have Correl dishes.  They are light, stack very well, and are pretty tough.  Some people don't like Correl in an RV, because it can shatter into tiny, sharp pieces if dropped onto a hard enough surface.  We use LOTS of paper plates and paper towels

If you plan to mostly have hookups, an electic toaster could be carried.  If you boondock a lot (like we do), the best I've found is placing the bread on aluminum foil (or a shallow broiling pan) and sliding under the oven burner element.  You have to turn the bread over if you want both sides toasted.  We tried one of those stovetop tosters that sit on a gas range burner.  We found it extremely cheap, a pain to set-up/take-down and it didn't toast very fast.

But sure to get a few rolls of that rubber anti-skid shelf liner.  I'm starting to see it sold in all kinds of stores these days.  We use it on the shelf bottoms, and cut out pieces to cushion pots, pans, dishes, etc.

Try to get to some LD campouts (LD Caravans or some of the other LD groups).  There is nothing like talking to many LD owners for getting good ideas for your own rig.  Posting questions on the forums at rv.net and the Escapees websites is a good place to get RVing questions answered (in addition to this forum).

We also use corelle dishes as my husband doesn't like "plastic dishes". I do carry some paper plates too.  I  also use the old fashioned hot dog baskets ( walmart 4 pak about $2.00) I buy the wax paper sheets at BJ's/Sams Club etc then line the basket with the paper and use it for sandwiches  or whatever and then just discard the paper. This was a suggestion from the original owners of our unit so I can't take all the credit.

As we purchased our 30 IB from the original owners they had installed a toaster. It mounts under a cabinet. The door pulls down and it hold 4 slices of toast. It does require shore power or running the genset to use it.

I also have pots etc but I purchased from tupperware the steamer which works in the microwave. It does a WONDERFUL job.

For clothes locker use I purchased a shoe bag ( designed to hang over a door) It would hold 24  pairs of shoes. Made of heavy canvas fabric not plastic. I cut it in half (2  12 pocket sections) Then attached each to a heavy wood suit hanger and we each have one in each locker . I use it to hold socks, underware, small clothes items that can be rolled etc. Gets a lot in a small area.

 K - your heading into a really fun part of RVing. Learning from other RVers.
The toaster question is fixable - I think someone might post a picture of a thing called 'Hobo Toaster'. It works a lot better than the camping toaster you can buy at REI, Walmart, camping stores, etc.
 A good place to start is with one of our very talented members' website - Andy Baird's "Travel with Gertie" He includes pictures of what he's put in his Lazy Daze plus really easy to follow instructions.

 Now if you're lucky enough to live on the left coast, there are several Lazy Daze camping groups that camp out pretty frequently. We often have a 'gonna-be' come visit, and everyone is always happy to share ideas and choices in 'stuff'. This way you'd get to see things first hand.
 Actually, you wouldn't have to go to just a Lazy Daze gathering. Wherever you are, go to RV campground this spring, park your car and walk around.
Find people sitting outside, and go talk to them. RVers are, by and large, really friendly, and love to talk about RV stuff. Tell them you're new, ask them about dishes, toasters, inverters, how to keep things from sliding around when driving, CBs, heaters, water purifiers, anything your heart desires. You'll get dozens of different ideas and opinions.

You have gotten a lot of good suggestions, so I will just add some more info in regards to your morning ritual of toast.  You can go about it 2 ways, bring your toaster from home and hook it up to an inverter when not hooked up to shore power or buy a 12 volt toaster.
Either way, you will be able to enjoy your toast anytime.
