Urgent question about 110 volt hookup...

Situation: I am near a house and want to start my refrigerator in my 22 lounge LD RV. I have 110v on an extension cord. Can someone tell me how to do this? (I have never hooked up to 110, but as I remember, there is a cord on one side...but not sure the plug is ordinary 110 house type.) ?? Thanks in advance, John B

Hi John-- The shore power connection on your LD probably is not the standard three-prong (15 amp) plug that will fit your extension cord.  If this is true, you'll need an adaptor, available at any RV supply store and some hardware stores (and Walmarts).

As a temporary fix, you can plug just the fridge into your 110 extension cord.  Open the refrigerator access panel on the outside of your rig.  You should find the AC cord for the fridge plugged into an outlet box there.  Simply unplug the cord from the box and connect it to your extension cord.

Make sure the controls inside are set to AC or Auto, whichever your unit requires to get it to run on AC.

Need some more info, John. What year, and FRONT lounge or REAR? Also do you have roof air? Older models w/o factory roof air typically had a 15A supply cord with the familiar 3-prong plug. If factory air was installed, an upgrade to 30A service was included, and you will need an adapter to connect the 30A RV connector to your house circuits.
They are cheap and available at Walmart, RV accessory stores.
 Note this is fine as long as you are not trying to run the roof air.
For that you should have a 30A circuit wired to your house with a dedicated breaker in the panel. The parts can be purchased from Home Depot.
