We had a similar problem with the oven.  After lighting the pilot, sometimes it would fire up the burner, but sometimes not.  When it didn't light, I could still light the burner by hand.
Then, when the oven reached the right temp, the burner would shut off, as it's supposed to do, but it wouldn't re-light (leaving me with half-baked biscuits a couple of times.)  I don't think the temperature level made a difference (350 vs 400 degrees), but can't say for sure.

The service person tested all kinds of things - proper gas pressure, line leaks, etc. but all was ok.  Then he physically adjusted (moved) the pilot and the thermocoupler (?) inside the oven so that it was closer to the burner and that seemed to do the trick.  He said that it had probably gotten bumped and shifted out of position.

I would think the position of the thermocouple relative to the pilot would be the key issue. Also, make certain the pilot flame is the correct size and shape, and that there is no contamination on the thermocouple. This is just a guess, since we have not had this problem.
