GFCI in my garage trips when I plug in RV
I’ve connected my 2015 lazy days 26.5 mid bath to an outlet in my garage for 10 years without a problem. Recently when I plugged it in, it tripped the GFCI switch in my garage. It also tripped the GFCI switch in my RV. I was able to reset the GFCI switch in the rig and when I plugged it into shore power, it only tripped the garage GFCI not the RV GFCI. Is there a way to determine whether or not the issue is in my LD or in my home electrical system?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Debra, my first step would be to make sure there’s nothing turned on in the LD like a heater or the air conditioner.  That was a situation we experienced when I forgot to turn off the air conditioner when we had 30A service and then plugged into a 110v plug.

My second step would be to run the generator and see if the RV GCFI trips.

My third step would be to plug into another circuit in your house that has a 20A breaker.

The results of these steps might help problem solving the situation.

Also check if something else is plugged into the circuit in the garage.  Do you know what plugs are powered by that GFCI?

GFI circuit breakers and plugs can and do go bad.  I have had GFI plugs in our home fail after many years of use and found a faulty GFI breaker in an LD a few years ago. They are electronic devices, fail occasionally, and usually have shorter lifespans than conventional circuit breakers.
For less than $20, GFI testers are widely available. Check the garage receptacle and a recepticle in the LD.

Faulty devices like GFIs can be intermittent, something else to drive you nuts.
Electrical gremlins can stump even the best techs for long periods. I see a couple of hands up out there.
