31’ Cabover Capacity
Hello all,

I’m loading up the rig for our winter trip south and I’m planning on putting about 100 lbs in the entertainment center cabinets. I’ve looked through old posts here and no one has mentioned a defined weight capacity for these cabinets other than not to put too much up there.

So this is to all of the 30 and 31’ owners out there that have some experience in weight capacity in this area. Of course I would take anyone’s input would be valued!

Thanks,
Ron

My 2004 30'IB has never had a lot of weight in the entertainment center outside of appliance brochures, DVDs and player, binoculars and a few books. Probably much less than 100 pounds. I'd say you are good to go!

The Mother Ships admonition was against converting it to sleeping space... far in excess of 100 pounds.  ::)

When we picked up ORWAN , I asked Todd about weight restrictions. After discussing what we might put up there, he said "don't put the library up there".  Blankets, paper products and a few electronic devices are up there.   I think it's ok as long as the paper towel rolls don't get wet.

Weight concerns pared our library significantly.

YMMV

Steve,
I’m putting about 47 lbs of cooking appliances, air fryer, instapot, etc, the rest is jackets and other clothing. I’m probably under the 100 lbs.
     Thanks for the response.

Joel,

 Thank you for your response.

Yep, the weight issue is always there for us too. Wish we had more capacity, but we really do enjoy the space in our 31’. We always manage to keep under the limit.

I only have a 26.5 foot Midbath, but did use the rear cabinet for books.  It worked great until I hit a serious tope in Mexico, and jumping books pushed the door open so they flew everywhere.  Painful Lesson learned about that!  No damage done, but lots of cleanup required.  Less library now, far more digital books.
