LD Golden Caravan 2006 Slide Show

While cataloging video files on my computer, I came across a video slide show of pictures from the Golden Anniversary LD Caravan gathering held in the summer of 2006 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. While many of the people we remember that attended that event are now gone, I figured that some folks on this forum may have been there or may be of interest to newer LD owners. Yes indeed, I was there along with daughter LazyBones2.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane, I enjoyed the event and this video, a rendition I had never seen before. My head was on a swivel to catch a glimpse of myself and I did it, frame 18:11 along with Rattlesnake Jake!

My goodness. What a wonderful treat to watch that very special treasure.

How many LD’s attended? And were all those events in the video just for the Anniversary Gathering? That seemed like a major accomplishment!!! WOW. 🤩

I’d like to see Art’s post moved to the pinned LD History topic. This video represents an amazing moment in the history of Lazy Daze.

Thank you, Art, thank you! What a trip to see the heyday of the Caravan clubs and many faces we would not meet until five months later when we picked up our rig. Buying a Lazy Daze, joining the Caravan Club, and meeting the Past Tents members have created 17 years of memories and lasting friendships like you and Barbara. This is the first time I have seen this video from the Grand Caravan. We had a great time and it enabled us to meet many of the folks from the old Yahoo group, now the LDOF. Meeting you and Barbara got us back into the Caravan Club.
The Club has shrunk considerably since 2006, the glory days of the club. Very few Club members shown in the video still own LDs, but it was fun to watch the video and relive the activities.
Rosemary Webb did an outstanding job in planning and directing the Caravan, it was a huge project.

About 450 LDs attended the Grand Caravan in Cheyenne, Wyoming. All of the activities shown did occur, some of them were not scheduled, such as fishing and golf, but the rest were on the official schedule. There was a even more happening that wasn't shown. It took the combined effort of a lot of folks from the Caravan Club to pull it off.
We had a great time and met a bunch of great people.

I'm sad that I was SIX YEARS too late! I retired in 2004 but bought my LD RV in 2012 and then went to the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque the next year, for my 67th birthday. I can barely even imagine 450 LDs in the same place for the 50th Anniversary . But in 2026 it will be 70 years. Can we do half that many RVs together ever again?

Art, since you stated you "came across" this slide show, can we assume you assembled it way back then? If so, many thanks for that and now sharing it.

When I moved into a retirement community, most everything from the house was disposed of --- except my four Golden Caravan wine glasses. Just the other night I shared some wine using them.

I still remember how much fun it was helping park the LDs with Sarah Blackwood (RIP) as my parking partner. Great to meet all the Lazy Dazers in person.

No, I suspect they were available at one of the SoCal LD Caravans after this event. The credits state that the slideshow was created by Donna LaPorte using photos by Andy Smith, Bob Filler and Donna LaPorte.

It’s still my strongly held opinion that the link to this valuable video needs a permanent pin in this Forum. Otherwise it will be lost deep within the bowels of this Forum.

If the Media section of this forum supports video files, I could upload it here, but even the .mp4 file format still uses 127MB!
