Transmission fluid type
My owners manual say's to use Motorcraft MERCON V ATF 4R70W.
I was told I can use Valvoline MaxLife Multi-Vehicle Full
Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid
Valvoline is $5 cheaper per gallon.
Is it safe to use Valvoline?

Thanks

When John Wood rebuilt our LD’s transmission, it was filled with Valvoline MaxLife Multi-Vehicle Full
Synthetic. It’s John’s recommended fluid and is changed every 30,000 miles.
That was 51,000 miles ago, and it still runs fine  It takes 22 quarts to flush the transmission totally.

See my post on how to flush the transmission.
Transmission flush vs drain and fill

Thanks Larry! I know I'm asking a lot of questions. I'm addressing needed maintenance before Winter.

Larry, My LD has been sitting for about a month. I drained 10.5 quarts of transmission fluid from the pan.
I'm not doing a drain and flush. My LD has 43k miles.
