Portable Gas Grill September 18, 2024, 11:58:51 am My grill died on our recent trip to San Simeon. Looking for a replacement, preferably one that fits in the skinny aft compartments of a MB. Any recommendations?
Re: Portable Gas Grill Reply #1 – September 18, 2024, 12:40:29 pm I use a Volcano grill, it packs up pretty small and can be used as a fire pit with wood too.It gets hot quickly so it can cook up things pretty fast, I need to pay attention or it will overcook things.Fits nicely on my rack once the bike is removed. 1 Likes

With the leg of the T pointed upward, I then attached a 15lb regulator and a cutoff valve. From the low pressure regulator I ran a 12' hose under the rig and into a storage compartment on the patio/passenger side. Another shorter hose connects to my grill and allows me to place it for best convenience. 1 Likes

My MB opening is about 9.5".Also, my preference is for a grill that accepts the small 1lb. propane bottles as I have no good way to transport the larger bottles, unless I put in the toad which I don't always take. So yes, there is a quick disconnect involved!

It slips right in. One thing I did notice is that the grill is "tippy" with the legs folded -- so you might want to put it on a towel or something if you don't want it rocking back and forth.And yes, it uses the 1# bottles. I just checked that too, and it fired right up. There's an igniter built into the flame control.FWIW, you can also use the more basic models like this one. It does fit in the compartment but, as you mentioned, you have to take the lid off, slid the base in, then put the lid back on inside the compartment which is a PITA.Edit: Just ordered the Cuisinart grill.
