V10 MPG? July 07, 2024, 11:48:18 am Newbie here— just purchased a 2007 LD 23 1/2’ twin-king and we love it. Haven’t had a chance to use it yet and am curious as to what I can expect as far as fuel consumption is concerned. I am a conservative driver and rarely go over 60 mile per hour unless the situation requires me to flow with traffic. What do you think I might reasonably expect for miles per gallon?P.S. I just did a search and am reading the posts. Sorry for the redundant question. If anyone would like to post current results, I would welcome them. By the way, the LD has 37K miles on it.
Re: V10 MPG? Reply #1 – July 07, 2024, 12:16:19 pm Hi Chartrue2; I hope you like the floor plan as much as we have. We've had our BlueBelle now for 24 and a half years. I wish I had such low mileage again! You can expect about 10 mpg. That is a pretty good general answer for anybody with a gasoline engine Ford E450, or E350, and anybody else with fuel injection. You rarely might get 11 mpg, and in heavy traffic or up and down altitude travels 9+ mpg. If you tow another vehicle, boat, auto or trailer, you might get even lower gas mileage. Mostly the engine is pushing the motorhome through the air, and the aerodynamics of air flow uses up a lot of energy. More to overcome the rolling resistance of the tires. Hours of use of the generator, mostly for maintenance and the rest for air conditioning, of course uses the gasoline out of the same tank and will make your travel mpg hard to determine. After 24 years my genset is up to about 130 hours now, mostly run for maintenance. RonB 2 Likes

I have been after this particular LD for about 10 years and it finally happened. We have had fourteen different motor homes over the years and as soon as I stepped in to this one, I fell in love with the floor plan! The lady that owned is is 86 and has decided to hang up her keys, so I was right there. She is the original owner and used it lovingly hence the low mileage. It is in perfect condition except for the fogging of the double pane (pain) windows. Thanks for sharing your knowledge! 1 Likes
Re: V10 MPG? Reply #3 – July 07, 2024, 01:21:22 pm Wow Chartrue2! 30+ and 14 motorhomes! I'm 70+ and this is only my second motorhome. (and likely my last!). Amazing! You have a different bathroom door arrangement than I do, and I like my version slightly better. The very large door, hinged at the aft (left) side, shut off the space from the back. Your newer arrangement has a smaller door, hinged on the right, and an 'accordion style' door to shut off the aisle. Pretty minor. You at least got the E450 chassis, a little wider and higher load capacity. Happy motoring, and welcome to LD Land. RonB

As to the number of motor homes we have had, I guess I am fickle, but when you spend considerable time in one, you find things you just love or hate and a change is in order. Like you, I think the LD will be my last rig.

Re: V10 MPG? Reply #6 – July 08, 2024, 08:12:15 am In our 2005 LD MB, we got 8 mpg towing a CRV. In our 2017 LD MB, we get 9 mpg towing our 2 door Jeep Wrangler. I am not sure why the difference except the transmission is a 6 speed instead of 5 speed.
