1990s Lazy Daze Video April 02, 2021, 03:14:44 pm Lazy Daze produced a video in the mid-1990s pointing out the features of its motorhomes and associated construction techniques. The video runs 7 minutes 40 seconds and was made available to purchase as a VHS tape. I purchased a copy (by mail) circa 1996 to learn more about LD motorhomes (my wife and I purchased a lightly used 1994 Multiplan in 1997). I recently rediscovered the tape while doing some spring housecleaning. I viewed the video and found it to be still in good condition. I thought the video might be interesting to a wider audience, so I emailed Todd at LD to see if LD any objections to uploading the video to YouTube. Todd emailed me back that LD had no objections. So I took the VHS tape to a local computer store to have it converted to a digital file. The store declined to do that citing copyright concerns. I suspect the larger vendors that provide this service (e.g., Costco and Walgreens) would have similar concerns. It is possible to purchase hardware/software to make a digital file from a VHS tape; however, I don’t really want to do that for this one application. If anyone on the LDOG is interested in pursuing making the video available to a wider audience, you can send me a personal message. I would be happy to make the video available for that purpose.Paul 4 Likes

Re: 1990s Lazy Daze Video Reply #2 – April 02, 2021, 05:28:16 pm As Paul wrote, "Todd [at Lazy Daze] emailed me back that LD had no objections." So that's already taken care of.

Re: 1990s Lazy Daze Video Reply #4 – April 02, 2021, 05:49:54 pm I would LOVE to see the video!! hope someone has the right equipment to make this happen.Although if you mentioned you re-watched it, then you must have the vhs player which by now is the hardest part of the equipment needed to make it happen. I think an rca to usb cable which is not too expensive would allow you to convert it to a digital file, although I haven't tried it myself, but worth to take a look since that way you can convert more family videos to digital files:Amazon.com: Plug-and-Play Composite RCA S-Video Audio Capture to USB DVR... 4 Likes As an Amazon Associate Lazy Daze Owners' Group earns from qualifying purchases.

Re: 1990s Lazy Daze Video Reply #7 – April 05, 2021, 09:15:51 am Hi all,I would be very interested in a copy as well. Also, I have a Youtube channel with a good amount of subscribers including RV owners so would be happy to host this on my channel for easy access for members to view. Very cool find! 2 Likes
Re: 1990s Lazy Daze Video Reply #8 – April 05, 2021, 02:36:32 pm I have a machine that burns a dvd from a vhs. However, it only works with home vhs tapes. With commercial tapes, like movies and etc, the end product is all snow and static. So, if the vhs tape has the “lock” on it, I can’t convert it. 1 Likes
Re: 1990s Lazy Daze Video Reply #9 – April 06, 2021, 12:32:29 pm I made a video of the VHS tape using my iPhone (link below). I had the VHS tape playing on the television and just sat up close to the television with my iPhone to record. I set my iPhone to 720p HD at 30 fps to minimize the file size. The quality of the iPhone video is mediocre, but still viewable. The VHS videotape is ~ 26 years old, so obviously LD construction techniques have changed over time (e.g., insulation and interior lighting). Shared album - Paul H - Google PhotosPaul 25 Likes

Re: 1990s Lazy Daze Video Reply #11 – April 06, 2021, 12:55:22 pm Thank you Paul; Just 24 years old tape., and three years before my 1999 was built. The ones they show look like the insides of my rig. (well I have the TK) The color of the wood grain, details of the upholstery, and feel are similar. Must have been Ed driving the blue 26.5 around the corners. I'd say it was unloaded. They don't drive that 'crisply' when loaded up! I'm looking at the people, customers, in the showroom, They look really familiar to people I know, or knew in the Caravan Club. RonB 2 Likes

Re: 1990s Lazy Daze Video Reply #16 – April 06, 2021, 04:03:57 pm Thanks so much, Great fun to see. the factory looks almost the same and Ian and I are sure that the patio table in the show room hasn't changed a bit from the pictures to when we saw it in 2015 when we picked up the SilverFox. Re: 1990s Lazy Daze Video Reply #21 – May 18, 2024, 01:10:30 pm I recently donated the original VHS tape to the RV Museum in Elkhart, Indiana. I emailed them ahead of time and they said they would like to have it. I'm unsure what they have done with the tape.

Re: 1990s Lazy Daze Video Reply #24 – May 19, 2024, 11:44:55 am Very cool. I watched the video before purchasing our 2011 earlier this year. I knew I wanted a quality coach without a slide (I had to fix a slide on our travel trailer this spring). We are so happy we sold our TT and found a LD. Quality!! 2 Likes
