drawer slide broken/detached(?) March 29, 2024, 08:41:09 pm The drawer under the closet door (left side, directly over the furnace) just "fell" as I was pulling it open. Only the front part of the brace is attached at the front with a single screw. tugged the drawer out and looks like some attachment point at the rear broke/fell off. If so, it's down in the furnace somewhere, falling through the slots on top of furnace(?). I don't see any way to reattach the rear of the slide to the bracket. I can slide drawer back in but it obviously droops down without any support so don't know how usable it will be like this. Any ideas? 2007 mid-bath. thanks! Daryl 1 Likes
Re: drawer slide broken/detached(?) Reply #1 – March 29, 2024, 08:54:14 pm Hi Daryl,I recently repaired what looks like the same problem for a drawer that is below my refrigerator. I've attached a copy of the instructions that were provided by Chris Horst. Hope this helps.Cheers!Matt 4 Likes
Re: drawer slide broken/detached(?) Reply #2 – March 30, 2024, 12:53:55 am thanks Matt, looks like exactly what I needed to know... off to the hardware store tomorrow for the bracket & screws! :-) And yeah, like Chris mentioned, I had this drawer weighed down as my junk drawer-- so going forward it will be a sock drawer. lesson learned ;-) Daryl 1 Likes
Re: drawer slide broken/detached(?) Reply #3 – March 30, 2024, 04:43:27 am Hi Daryl; Just for some background, the failure is due to too sharp a bend at the end of the bracket, The drawer back end is suspended too far forward and if heavy enough, the back bounces up and down. This fatigues the bend and it eventually breaks. Many of us (Larry Wade) have attached supports underneath the single strut to stiffen it. I replaced my three drawer slides in the kitchen when I went to full extension side slides. That left me with three extra angle brackets, (but I've used those up.) So the next time the one under the refrigerator breaks, I'll probably put in full extension slides there. RonB 3 Likes
Re: drawer slide broken/detached(?) Reply #4 – March 30, 2024, 11:56:55 am Hi Ron,Would you mind posting a link to the extensions that sound like they have worked well for you. I've done one repair but I have no doubt more are in my future so I would rather proceed with the more robust fix that you mentioned. Thanks in advance.Matt 1 Likes
Re: drawer slide broken/detached(?) Reply #5 – March 30, 2024, 01:15:01 pm Hi Matt; I found some references here broken drawer glide Reply #2 from Andy, and Reply #4 from Larry W included pictures. I did find a few years ago, a (or the) vendor that had the exact slides new that Lazy Daze used. (online). I'll try to find them again when I have a chance, since the factory isn't available. Re: drawer slide broken/detached(?) Reply #6 – March 30, 2024, 06:19:51 pm The top drawer under the refrigerator carries a heavy load and after many years, it broke, due to flexing. To take the flex out of the new or repaired track, screw a 1" X 2" under the new track. The 1" X 2" was trimmed to provide support for the lower drawer below when it is open. Flex was removed from the lower track by placing a strip of plywood under the bottom track, filling the gap between the tack and cabinet bottom.Drawer Slide Reinforcement | FlickrLarry 5 Likes
Re: drawer slide broken/detached(?) Reply #7 – March 30, 2024, 06:46:45 pm thanks again all!! Good to know about the reinforcing in the future... The instructions from Matt / Chris H. were spot on & I was able to fix it today, no problem & the drawer is back in business :-) Daryl 2 Likes
Re: drawer slide broken/detached(?) Reply #8 – March 31, 2024, 04:19:59 am Yes, the vendor is still in business. I broke two, ordered four. They even sell parts so you only have to repair the broken parts. It is Accuride C 1209-125D 25” I can’t find a link but they were sent to me by Rockler.Another label says 25” Accuride series 1029 63310 950822 733175633109 3 Likes

Re: drawer slide broken/detached(?) Reply #10 – May 03, 2024, 06:18:49 pm This looks like the most recent post on this topic, and since I finally dealt with this myself within the past month, figured I'd add a minor warning.I can only speak for the specific drawers I dealt with: the two kitchen drawers of a 2003 MB (the hallway ones were already reinforced with 1/2" brackets when we got the rig)If you're doing the angle bracket fix as described by @Mattb above, stick with 1/2" angle brackets, or prepare to change plans a bit. A 1" angle bracket sticks out too far and doesn't allow the drawer glide to slide back quite far enough (by just a few mm) to remount everything properly.I was a bit worried before I even started, because my measurements indicated it was a *potential* problem, but since the local hardware store didn't have anything but 1", I went for it.In the end, I mounted them *below* the rail (with no bolt through the rail at all, since even that blocked things too much), so the rail is supported like a book shelf would be, which I'm hoping works out well enough in the long run.I thought I had taken pictures to post, but can't find them now. If anyone wants photos of this yet-another-way-to-deal-with-it, reply and I'll see what I can do.
