Exhaust pipe ends January 08, 2024, 01:05:07 am I’ve seen where some of you have added stainless steel ends to your exhaust pipes. Are these available as DYI Add on or did you have the work done at a muffler shop?

Re: Exhaust pipe ends Reply #2 – January 08, 2024, 11:49:47 am I’ve thought about this. Aesthetically it would look nicer than the factory pipe but I found the pipe hanger and shield gets in the way and the tip would overhang too far out. Anyone have a link to one they used and liked?

When acquired used in 2017, his exhaust pipe had been bent up after an encounter with a curb (or something). I sawed it off shorter and put on this: It might take awhile to find my records of where I got it. Found it at Amazon. Amazon.com: Dynomax 36484 Exhaust Pipe Spout : Automotive RonBedit: Easy to put on. The problem I had was after cutting off a lot of pipe, getting the stub round enough for this extension to slide on. Hacksaw, file, or better yet, a grinder. BrewersArcade; Joe Brewer in reply #3 and #5. He also has a damaged exhaust pipe. Pretty easy to hit curbs, campground marker rocks and such. I liked this one because it is pretty short and a little higher. Don't stand in front of it with the engine idling though. RonB 1 Likes

Again, tricky part is finding a short enough and wide enough tip to not extend too far out and look like a goofy hot-rodded LD! Ron, thanks for the link. Does anyone know the diameter of the factory pipe? 3” or 4”?

Re: Exhaust pipe ends Reply #13 – January 09, 2024, 07:44:37 pm Hi Joe; 2.5" that part I referenced would fit my '99 and did fit a 2001 pipe. If you had a 'cat back' exhaust system like part of the Banks power pack or some other, you can realize more efficient flow and it can boost horsepower, or gas mileage if you can resist using that extra power. Some exhausts can be 3' to 4" or even larger, but won't help much since most of the restriction is the valves, timing, manifold, catalytic converter or muffler. Fiddling with factory provided parts usually just costs more money with no real return. If the factory could boost mpg that easily, they would have. RonB 1 Likes
