Sirocco Fan January 28, 2024, 06:02:39 pm When I first got the LD I installed a couple of fans in the bedroom. They were the inexpensive ones you see everywhere (fan). They moved the air but were pretty loud. I replaced one of them today with a Sirocco (sirocco) which a couple guys here recommended. Much better. Nice and quiet. Good recommendation.jor 2 Likes As an Amazon Associate Lazy Daze Owners' Group earns from qualifying purchases.
Re: Sirocco Fan Reply #1 – January 28, 2024, 07:03:08 pm Yeah, they aren’t cheap, but I can hardly hear them, and you can position them any direction you want. The only complaint is the switch isn’t trivial to find by touch. Thinking about a third for over the cab.
Re: Sirocco Fan Reply #2 – January 28, 2024, 09:11:04 pm "The only complaint is the switch isn’t trivial to find by touch."True. I added a touch dot--a 1/4" diameter self-adhesive foam dot--to make it easy to find by feel.I use these and similar "bump dots" in many places as tactile aids. For example, my 2021 Ford Ranger pickup has absolutely terrible HVAC controls; everything is done with a matrix of black rectangular buttons with tiny labels. I can't even tell them apart in the daytime--well, not without taking my eyes off the road for dangerously long!--and at night, forget it. So I added raised dots and shapes to the most often used buttons, making it possible to find them by touch alone. I did the same for some of the buttons on the steering wheel. The company I bought them from, Maxi-Aids, has 76 different kinds of self-adhesive tactile dots and bumps. (Yes, you can get a sampler for free.) Maxi-Aids sells a large variety of assistive technology products... everything from Braille slates to flashing doorbell alerts to arthritis aids to canes to scooters. Even if you don't have any particular disabilities, it's fascinating to browse through their catalog. (Remember, we're all "TAB"--Temporarily Able Bodied.) 6 Likes
