Lazy Daze in "Twisters" July 21, 2024, 07:12:19 pm The movie "Twisters" opened in theaters July 19. One of my sons saw the movie and told me that one of the tornado chase vehicles in the movie is an older LD. He said that unlike some of the chase vehicles in the movie, the LD survived. You can see several glimpses of the LD in the trailer at the link below.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTl5JVpTxZw 3 Likes

Re: Lazy Daze in "Twisters" Reply #3 – July 22, 2024, 12:18:02 am Based on micro seconds its in the trailers and my freeze frames, I'm going with 84 or few years earlier TK/RL. Would need to see the movie. Basing this on Windows and Front Grill.Ramon

Re: Lazy Daze in "Twisters" Reply #7 – July 22, 2024, 12:25:17 pm I wonder if one of the producers was familiar with the brand and wanted a Lazy Daze in the film. It would be cool if it was loaned by one of our members! Our family loves the original Twister film, its fun, campy, cheesy and an entertaining storyline. We are looking forward to seeing the new one. No spoilers please!
Re: Lazy Daze in "Twisters" Reply #8 – July 22, 2024, 12:37:54 pm What surprises me is using such a rare vehicle to start with, as they often need multiple instances for shooting.Plus studios are always looking for product placement revenue, so you would think they would use a brand still in business.Happy for the Lazy Daze sighting, just odd

Re: Lazy Daze in "Twisters" Reply #11 – July 22, 2024, 07:22:11 pm Hey you So Cal folks- doesn't anyone have a connection with the studio to learn more? Was the Lazy Daze used because they didn't have to pay for using the brand- or because as we all know, it's sturdiness?
Re: Lazy Daze in "Twisters" Reply #12 – July 22, 2024, 09:09:27 pm Fun to see — thanks to its low profile, Lazy Daze has excellent road manners even when chasing tornados. 1 Likes

Was the Lazy Daze used because they didn't have to pay for using the brand- or because as we all know, it's sturdiness?I don't think there's any "method to the madness" relating to the type of RV used in a film. One of my favorite movies "Paul" (Two British nerds go on a trip to Comic-Con and to explore UFO "alleged" sites. It's a lot of slapstick comedy, but a favorite just to let your mind go on "cruise control" and laugh. <snip>For the past 60 years, a wisecracking alien named Paul (Seth Rogen) has resided at a top-secret military base in America's UFO heartland. When Paul decides he has had enough of Earth, he escapes from the compound and hops on the first handy vehicle -- a rented RV manned by two British sci-fi nerds named Graeme (Simon Pegg) and Clive (Nick Frost). With federal agents and the father of an accidental kidnap victim on their tail, the two hatch a crazy plan to help Paul return to his spaceship. Many years ago I actually got to see the RV (a 1987 Winnebago Traveller Beagle) where the crew had set up near Chimayo in northern New Mexico. Driving south, it was parked on the side of the road during a lull in filming.

Re: Lazy Daze in "Twisters" Reply #15 – July 23, 2024, 07:05:41 pm I wonder if it was the same one that was in the Bosch series??
Re: Lazy Daze in "Twisters" Reply #16 – July 23, 2024, 08:48:49 pm Hi Lisa; I remembered that the one in Bosch TV Lazy Daze - From Bosch Season 3, Episode 1 (reply #7) was red/white, and this one is brown/white I'm sure that producers are aware that the older one's traditional paint pattern stayed very similar for a long time and was, and still is distinctive. I'm sure that a budget conscious director can get one relatively inexpensively to put in a movie, especially in the L.A. area. I haven't seen this movie yet. I hope it didn't get destroyed! RonB
Re: Lazy Daze in "Twisters" Reply #17 – July 24, 2024, 08:34:13 am Interesting, I heard about this movie yesterday on a Ham Radio forum. They pointed out how the CB radios they are talking on don't have an antenna connected.

Re: Lazy Daze in "Twisters" Reply #20 – September 05, 2024, 03:13:39 pm Looks almost exactly like my 1985 brown TK. Obviously the front cap logo has been reworked. Notice the large vertical exterior door in the rear on the driver’s side. That’s where the “portable” propane bottle is stored. Good catch on the suspension as it does look like it’s been raised up. I personally don’t care for the window coverings but I guess they are important if you’re chasing twisters! 1 Likes
Re: Lazy Daze in "Twisters" Reply #21 – September 05, 2024, 07:13:08 pm What the heck are those slabs of plywood crudely bolted to the ceiling in the rear vents, and just outside the bathroom? Those big machine screws sticking down a couple of inches could really tear off the scalp of a tall occupant!

Re: Lazy Daze in "Twisters" Reply #24 – September 06, 2024, 12:22:22 pm "Since it’s now a movie prop, wonder what else still works?"If I had to guess, I'd say "Probably not much." Hollywood-grade lighting and shooting inside a 22 foot narrow-body class C would be extremely difficult, so most likely anything beyond short cinema verite style clips would be shot in the studio, where an interior set with removable ceiling and walls would be constructed. 99.9% of the audience wouldn't know that what they were seeing was not a 1984 Lazy Daze interior.
