Soft close toilet seat (replacement for original in 2003 MB)
The original sealand toilet seat in our 2003 MB finally broke.  The plastic hinges became brittle.

I replaced it with this:  BEMIS Affinity Round Closed Front Toilet Seat in Bone-203SLOW 006 - The Home...

Bemis 7M203SLOW 006 Color: Bone

If you travel with others (family) who sometimes forget to put the seat down before the RV starts rolling, the soft close feature is wonderful.

Install was easy enough, requiring a large flat blade screwdriver to remove the old seat and a 5/8 socket with the correct assortment of extensions for install.  The trickiest part is getting either your hands or the socket behind the bowl and up into the space where the nuts are.

Oh geeze, I could have a lot of fun with that!

At least you chose a good brand, I also have a Bemis.   ;)

Not quite sure how this feature solves this issue? Our soft-close lid will stay up until you initiate closure. What is nice is that it doesn't bang down.

The issue, for me anyway, was the loud bang from the falling toilet seat when I made the first turn.  That sound was usually followed by "you guys HAVE to remember to close the toilet lid!", which was followed by either "It wasn't me" or "Ok Dad".

Rinse and repeat at each rest area or fuel stop.

Now the lid closes softly instead!

My replacement Dometic potty came with a soft close lid. Love it! Now the problem is when I go home where there is no soft close lid. Heheh.

Great minds think alike, I replaced the toilet seat on my sealand toilet when I rebuilt the toilet several months ago.  That was the easiest part of the entire job.  I have rebuilt septic tanks and the job was more enjoyable than removing and rebuilding the toilet.  However, I did find a company (Ardemco) in Costa Mesa,CA that stocks all of the parts to rebuild a sealand toilet.

Sorry to bump an old thread but just wanted to say thanks for the suggestion. My original Sealand seat has become brittle around the hinges and I was expecting the seat would need to be unique to an RV toilet. Order placed at Home Depot for a Bemis and hopefully install goes easy!

More mea culpa…

The day has come, time for a new seat (ours due to a lost fastener nut.

New one ordered from Amizon (cheaper than Home Depot).

Thanks LDOF!
