LED inside lights replacement April 10, 2023, 05:00:08 pm We have 3 lights that are giving us problems. Two of the little ones have lights that go on and off, and sometimes they are all on. And one of the big lights that has about 1/2 of the LEDs out on each side now.Trying to figure out what to replace them with.Does anyone know what the Lumens and the K- Kelvin temperature range for these lights are? We want something a little brighter.Any help would be greatly appreciated. We are thinking about replacing the smaller lights with larger ones, still trying to figure out what to do with the larger lights.
Re: LED inside lights replacement Reply #1 – April 10, 2023, 06:12:11 pm Hi Bonnie; I can only assume that the supply side was having problems getting good parts around the time your rig was being built. I tried to convert to LED at the first opportunity, and many weren't built very well. Likewise they quit early on. I try to stay in the 'natural' or daylight color range. About 4000K to 4500K. I find the 6000(Kelvin) to be too harsh. So 'brighter' do you mean more Lumen output? To retain matching fixtures, you could try Todd Miller. He might have some, or know where to get them. Amazon has lots of choices, of unknown quality. rv 12v led lights - Google Search M4 while expensive does have a reputation of being very helpful. M4 LED Products You might try them. Lumen wise, 300 is good for a ceiling light. I put in a 450 Lumen for the main front dinette/kitchen for a MB. For a little more you can get fixtures with a dimmer built in. This one looks like your large one. I used them on a friends toy hauler: Amazon.com: Miady RV Interior Light 650 Lumens 12V RV LED Ceiling Dome Light... Re: LED inside lights replacement Reply #3 – April 10, 2023, 06:33:27 pm We read a lot. Getting older so my husbands macular generation is an issue, and I am starting to get cataracts. So we want something that will help with reading etc. So trying to figure out the best Lumens and best K value for our situation. I have read about the K value but am really not sure how the different ones really look, so feel like we are going to be guessing.I was hoping to figure out what we have so we can go up a step. Wishing it was a little brighter and lighter when reading.I sent an email to Todd and to M4.Thank you all for your responses.

Re: LED inside lights replacement Reply #5 – April 10, 2023, 08:45:30 pm My wife doesn't like the colder feeling of the 5600 and higher colors so I went with the 3500 to 4000 range for a warmer light. I think you will find about all lumans about the same. Color range will be softer on the lower end of the range the higher you go the color becomes more white. An office building will usually be cool white or 3500 - 4000 range 1 Likes

An office building will usually be cool white or 3500 - 4000 rangeHere's a K color comparison from CNET:Soft white (2,700 to 3,000 Kelvin) is warm and yellow, the typical color range you get from incandescent bulbs. This light gives a warm and cozy feeling and is often best for living rooms, dens and bedrooms..Warm white (3,000 to 4,000 Kelvin) is more yellowish-white. These bulbs are best suited for kitchens and bathrooms..Bright white (4,000 to 5,000 Kelvin) is between white and blue tones. With a less cozy and more energetic feel, bulbs with this color range are best for work spaces (such as a home office or garage) and kitchens with chrome fixtures..Daylight (5,000 to 6,500 Kelvin) has a more bluish tone. This light color will maximize contrast for colors, making it ideal for working, reading or applying makeup. For me, 4000K is a pleasant warm light, 5000K is a good printed material reading light, and 6000K is fine in the workshop (good thing, as lights sold as "shop lights" seem to be in the 5000K-6000K range). 7 Likes
