Replace refrigerator August 27, 2023, 01:48:38 am 2006 LD 26.5 TK. Prev owner put in a dorm refrigerator. I ordered/received Dometic to fit original cutout. Approx 24"wide by 24"deep. It isn't coming in through the door. Choice is remove window or remove passenger seat. I read window removal works, but frig is 120lb and that's a lot of lifting. Has anybody tried removing passenger seat (or even laying the seat back?
Re: Replace refrigerator Reply #1 – August 27, 2023, 02:46:39 am Hi Mark; The refrigerator will fit (carefully) through an opened window. You don't need to remove the frame or anything else. I'm not sure which window; a midbath owner will have to chime in here. It will generally take two people. I remember that previously people mentioned having heavy duty blankets laying on the window tracks to prevent damage to the thin aluminum tracks. RonB 1 Likes
Re: Replace refrigerator Reply #2 – August 27, 2023, 10:03:45 am Open the midbath's dinette window--you don't need to remove it--and lay blankets or cardboard over the sill to protect it. The fridge will fit though. It's a two-person job. 2 Likes
Re: Replace refrigerator Reply #3 – August 27, 2023, 11:54:55 am While the removal through the window method has always worked for me, it is a two person job. If working solo, removing the passenger seat isn’t difficult, just four Torx-head bolts and one electrical plug to remove. The seat is heavy too .After removing the old refrigerator, it would be the time to add insulation to the enclosure.Larry 1 Likes
