Silverton to Ouray in the Winter December 21, 2022, 04:20:42 pm If you have never driven US550 between these towns, you can see what's it like. The downhill S turns start around 15:00. This is where I drop into 2nd gear. The final decent starts around 30:00. Get a fire in the hearth and some spiced tea and watch. Re: Silverton to Ouray in the Winter Reply #3 – December 22, 2022, 03:03:56 pm Beautiful drive, Don. I’m curious as to how you filmed it. We never saw any camera shake when you were going over rough patches. The camera pitch did change ever so slightly from time to time. Hand held? If so, impressive! — Jon

Re: Silverton to Ouray in the Winter Reply #5 – December 22, 2022, 07:56:24 pm Hi Joel. Our roads are private and maintained by the CSD (Community Services District). They actually do a pretty good job considering there are over a hundred miles of road to plow. If only I could get them to do my driveway! 😉 2 Likes
