Rv steps on my 1985 LD
My rv steps on my 1985 are missing but I see the bolts.  I did measure 21x4.5 on the bolt spread but I can’t seem to find the correct step??  Does anyone know where I can find it and if I can get a 2 step system?

Hi Carry;  These are manually deployed steps, made by Kwikee.  I don't know for sure that your 1985 rig uses these. Two of our long term members each had '85's so they might chime in on this.    Kwikee Steps - Single Tread    It's been known that the nuts fall off of these steps. Happened to me on a 2001 that I bought for a friend. It was missing just one nut. Pretty easy to fix.  Often people have 'rot' in the area where the steps are attached, so you might want to check that.    RonB
***Edited, sorry that is an electric step. Must be a huge markup, they sure push the fancy electric ones!

Well That $1k is an electric step.  I think Lippert bought Kwikee, so this manual step is just $73.  You might find what size you need, even less $.  Last I looked for my '99 it was about $50.  Lippert 432678 Hickory Single RV Step

All the steps available for our E450s are single steps. Replacing with a manual step is the best choice, it would be difficult to install an electric step's wiring.

Many times the entry step develops rot in older rigs. Water gets trapped under the rubber mat and cannot get out, this leads to rotting. If the plywood under the step is soft, it should be replaced with new exterior-rated plywood. The difficulty of the repair depends on how bad the rot is and if it just has damaged the top layer of plywood or it has also damaged the second, lower layer.

The step's hardware will loosen under normal usage and the mounting nuts and bolts should be checked for tightness periodically.

When I had purchased my previous 1987 Lazy Daze Multi-Plan, it was either missing the step or it needed to be replaced.  I contacted the factory and they knew exactly what I needed and sent it to me.  Granted that was years ago and the factory is now closed but someone from the factory is still doing repair work and might have or know what you need.  I do not remember his name or number but it can be found on some of the posts about the factory closing.  I paid $114 back in 2007 for it.
