Terrible Awful Fasteners! November 04, 2022, 04:26:40 pm I detest those inch and a half 1/4" head screws that are everywhere in the LD. Wish they had used Robertson or even Phillips head screws. The LD guys ran them right into that soft pine so they are difficult to remove. Anyhow, If someone else is frustrated by these little guys, you can consider my method. I use a countersinking bit to create a nice trough around the head of the screw. Then a 1/4" bit fits nicely and out it comes! One thing I should mention, this process trashes the bit for countersinking but it's worth it!jor
Re: Terrible Awful Fasteners! Reply #1 – November 04, 2022, 04:50:24 pm While driving ORWAN home from the mothership, one of the blinds detached from the roller. Rather than make a 1,000 mile round trip for a simple replacement, Vince shipped a new one. He included a 'special installation tool' that he asked me to return with the old blind. The 'special tool' was a 1/4" socket with the tip tapered to a fine edge at the end so it could fit into the tight space. That might work for you too, but it does leave the head above the surface. Yours is out of the way. 3 Likes
