Lazy Daze seen in the wild near Laramie, WY
I was out in my Jeep scouting for a possible overnight spot in Medicine Bow National Forest when I spotted this LD. They were camping with someone in a Casita.

They had a black dog tied outside the rig.

Look familiar to anyone? The door was open but I didn't feel comfortable just walking up to their rig from out of nowhere.

The Snowy Range Mountains are in that national forrest. Hwy 130 crosses east/west over the range. Just my opinion but those mountains are one of the most beautiful spots in the Rockies. The mountain cliff face is quartzite and are some of the most colorful  rocks  to wander about in.  Below are  some photos I took there last year. There are three national forrest campgrounds in the area.

Used to frequent the Snowy Range in my teens and early 20s, a favorite destination from Omaha growing up.

It’s on my bucket list to spend days there with my TK.

This photo was from June 22nd 2019, spring can come very late there!

I know route 130 is closed for the winter so when you were there it must have just been opened. Even then it’s a beautiful place. We too will return one day.

In order to be a historian of any degree you first must be an avid reader! I happen to be both.

If you will be transiting Hwy 130 out of Laramie and through the Snowy Range you will pass through Centennial, Wyoming. The name of the town gave title to Michener's classic book "Centennial". The town has a rich and varied history. While I confess that I've not spent any time there I am also aware that there is a 'Nici Self Historical Museum' nearby and a smattering of businesses open to the public.

Now's your chance!

Would recommend Old Corral Steakhouse in Centennial, dinner photo from the 2019 trip.

Okay, okay, for you 'purists' out there Michener's fictional Centennial was allegedly in NE Colorado but the real town of Centennial is in Wyoming, and just a few miles apart, south to north. Cast of characters and historic events being very much the same I'll let you determine what's fact or fiction!

For further investigation you can study Chivington's massacre at Sand Creek, a Cheyenne village.!
