ReadyBrake LED July 16, 2022, 04:08:07 pm Installed an LED light in the dash. It illuminates when the ReadyBrake engages. Took me three hours to get this little guy in! Not a record though. I usually triple the time estimate and double the money on my jobs! This is the last job on my list except for the A/C issue.jor 2 Likes
Re: ReadyBrake LED Reply #1 – July 16, 2022, 04:44:12 pm A light that illuminates when the toad's brakes are engaged is a smart addition.Toad brakes occasionally have issues that cause the brakes to drag, when not activated. Toads have burned to the ground caused by dragging brakes.I usually wire the dash brake light directly to the toad's brake light, adding a diode if necessary. Many modern vehicles, our Jeep included, have timed electrical systems that shut off within a few minutes from when the engine is turned off. The brake lights also lose power at this time, so a different way of monitoring the toad's brakes is needed. For the Jeep, I used a Roadmaster Universal Stop Light Switch Kit Item # RM-751000. The device attaches to the brake pedal and senses the movement of the pedal using an infrared sensor. It works fine once calibrated.https://www.etrailer.com/Tow-Bar-Braking-Systems/Roadmaster/RM-751000.htmlLarry 1 Likes
