Escape hatch lid
I need a new escape hatch lid for my 1998 26.5 mid bath. I hesitated a while back in ordering one from Lazy Daze factory. Well since it closed, I don’t know where to look for a new one. I need someone to tell me the exact lid to purchase from another website. I have looked and looked, and have only found ones the approximate sizes. Help? Thank you!

If you still have your hatch lid in one piece it could be used as a pattern for a sheet metal fabricator to make a replacement from aluminum. I did this for my 2010 LD rear bath and it worked quite well. I first lined the inside with cork shelving insulation. However it attracted mildew so i replaced it with foil bubble insulation that worked quite well until we sold the coach. I also glued rubber door jamb insulation around the inside edges for a seal.

Mike said it was custom-made, using the old lid as a model.
You would need to have a local metal fabrication shop make it.

Several LD Caravan members had aluminum lids made years ago, I remember they were fairly expensive.
If you can order the correct lid from Todd, it will be the simplest and cheapest way of proceeding.

Yes, I found a local metal fabricator to do the work. It took him a couple of tries to get it right. Since then he has moved away.

I did a temporary fix on my hatch a couple of years ago with eternabond. I covered the entire hatch for my trip back east until I could order one from the mothership. Needless to say I waited too long to order from LD but I did email Todd to see if he could get me one and he said he’ll look into it, but he never did get back to me. The Eternabond is still holding up though. That stuff is amazing

I am not sure whether all escape hatches share a common dimension but I purchased this one to replace my cracked lid and it fit perfectly. It came with a cross bar but you must use all other existing hardware in the replacement. I have had it on for approx.
1 1/2 years and it has remained secure and watertight.

When ordering online, make sure the vendor will accept returns, the escape hatch has come in slightly different sizes through the decades

In the summer of 2019 we decided to change our escape hatch with a escape hatch with a fantastic fan in it.  We ordered the new escape hatch from Todd at the mothership.  They sent out the correct hatch for our 98~MB.  We had looked on line but was not sure if those would fit and did not want to deal with returns.  I then cut and added the fantastic fan to the hatch and installed it.  If you could reach Todd, that may be the best outcome.
The eHatch fan for us has worked Great!
