For doing upgrades, modifications, repairs, etc I have tended to use Amazon the most. Last major project was setting up the toad in 2015, and also used:

If I am in the Flagstaff area, I use Buddy's Welding and RV.
An old school local RV place that I prefer to give my business to.
Otherwise it's usually Amazon.

I'm surprised about a bad experience with etrailer, I have received good service when buying parts for towing set-ups, electric step repair, bike racks, and other parts.
Many times, they have contacted their suppliers for additional information when I have not been able to find the right parts. They have access to parts I have not been able to find elsewhere and have had dozens of email and phone conversations with them over the last twenty years.
Also impressive is the amount of videos they have produced showing how various products are installed and work.
Hope they just had a bad day and this isn't a permanent change for the worse.

I've also purchased from Panther RV Products and am happy with them.  They are currently having a Spring sale:

I recently ordered some Fiamma awning end caps from Panther RV . The ordering process was quick and easy and they arrived two days after I ordered them.  I definately will be ordering from them again.
