Critters April 10, 2022, 02:05:39 pm Howdy folks,New here, just purchased our 2002 MB.Looking forward to many adventures in our LD.Ques. What do ya'all use/do to keep critters like rats and mice out of the coach?I know there are many devises and ways of doing this, I just wonder what really works.Any advise will be greatly appreciated.Many Thanks,Cal & Roberta TerryPrescott AZ. 1 Likes

Two years ago, after clearing out another nest and replacing the gnawed insulation in that area, I installed a LED light under the doghouse, and leave it on all the time. So far, this has successfully deterred pests from nesting in that area. 1 Likes
Re: Critters Reply #3 – April 11, 2022, 08:10:50 am I too have been using LED lighting for several years to discourage rodents from occupying certain areas under the coach where I have had problems in the past both at home and on the road. Specifically the engine area (fore & aft), the generator housing, and over the fuel tank. (see pix) I now have LEDs in each location with power supplied from the coach lithium batteries. I tapped the lithium power system at the solenoid switch under the radiator reservoir tank by the Ford engine. Initially these LEDs were on 24/7. The biggest issue was the lights above the front engine area burning out from excessive heat while traveling. Since critters can't get in while the vehicle is moving down the road the lights only needed to be on when parked. Therefore I added a normally open 12V powered auto switch to the LED circuit to turn off the LEDs while the ignition was on. I tapped the ignition circuit at the solenoid activation terminal for the LED switch. Now the lights come on when the engine is off. I have had no other issues (knocking on wood) rodents since the LED install. 3 Likes
